JNCC guidelines for minimising the risk of injury and disturbance to marine mammals from seismic surveys

- N/A

The guidelines have been written for activities on the United Kingdom Continental Shelf (UKCS) and are aimed at reducing the risk of injury to negligible levels and can also potentially reduce the risk of disturbance from seismic surveys to marine mammals including seals, whales, dolphins and porpoises. Whilst there are no objections to these guidelines being used elsewhere JNCC would encourage all operators to determine if any special or local circumstances pertain, as we would not wish these guidelines to be used where a local management tool has already been adopted (for instance in the Gulf of Mexico OCS Region).
